my less serious day: any day now

A funny thing happens to me over long breaks from work: my brain turns off. Completely. Off.

So, please forgive my lack of thoughtful posts (i.e., experiments, commentaries) as I just haven't been able to muster up the brain power.

I've been back at work for three days...so I imagine my brain should turn on any day now.

Wearing.

Sweater: Anthropologie (gifted via mom); jeans: GAP; boots: Steve Madden; belt: Banana outlet; necklace: gifted via mom.

Doing.

This morning I couldn't face the 19 degree weather and stayed inside for a 35-minute stationary bike ride (ramp interval). I worked at home and enjoyed a leisurely 20-minute walk with L around lunch time. This afternoon I hit the cold pavement for a 30-minute run at working pace.

Eating.

Breakfast was a bowl of Nature's Path Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon Cereal with almond milk (look for a review soon...I proooomise) and strong, black coffee.

Mid-morning snack (I woke up at 5, this was necessary) was this ugly 1/2 banana and peanut butter.

Lunch was leftover red beans (+ french green beans) and rice on top of a bed of raw spinach.

On the side for lunch: a Pink Lady apple doused with cinnamon. Natural light...you are pretty.

My afternoon snack was a bowl of plain Greek yogurt with chopped dates.

Dinner was roasted eggplant and cherry tomatoes, pine nut couscous (Near East), and a Morningstar Chicken Patty + ketchup. I haven't roasted eggplant in months (ok maybe one month) and the smell of it cooking made my mouth water. Pathetic? Maybe. Delicious? Definitely.

Dessert was a 'baked' Pink Lady apple (i.e., microwaved with cinnamon for a few minutes) topped with raw oats and almond butter.

Note: this post represents what happened in my world on Wednesday, January 4.

  3. Your outfit is so cute! I'm in love with Anthropologie. It's dangerous for me to even walk into that store.
Your dinner looks delicious. And I've been having a banana with peanut butter almost every day this week! I don't know why but I just can't seem to kick my craving for them.
