what i ate wednesday: issue 45

Some days you just have to take a personal day off work and get your life under control. Today, I paid my mountain of bills, ran 10 miles, bought a lawnmower, went grocery shopping, unpacked my new kitchen, unpacked my new bedroom, vacuumed and unrolled rugs. Ahhh, refreshing control.

I also ate food, and (let's be honest) that is what you really care about:

Figure 1. Breakfast: a bowl (x2) of Kashi 7 Whole Grain Flakes, corn Chex, Post Great Grains Raisin, Dates, and Pecans cereals, a sliced banana, and almond milk.

Figure 2. Lunch: a romaine lettuce salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, carrot slices, a Qorn Chick'n Pattie, red wine vinegar, and ketchup. A side of carrot sticks and peanut butter.

Figure 3. Afternoon snack #1: popcorn and peanuts.

Figure 4. Afternoon snack #2: a Pink Lady apple with chocolate Greek yogurt dip (plain Greek yogurt + dark chocolate cocoa powder + agave nectar + soy-free chocolate chips).

Figure 5. Afternoon snack #3: beer. Yes, hard work deserves a beer.

Figure 6. Dinner: a baked sweet potato with goat cheese and avocado creme alongside sauteed asparagus with toasted pine nuts and golden raisins. This creme was a last-minute find and definitely made this meal. Delicious.

Figure 7. Dessert: Cascadian Farm vanilla almond granola and soy-free chocolate chips.

And that concludes another What I Ate Wednesday (featuring what I ate Tuesday, August 7).

  9. I used a personal day on Monday, but it definitely wasn't as productive as yours. It was basically just letting my mind recover from a whacked-out-stressful weekend, so I basically laid in bed and ate. If only I had a few more sick days to burn like that!

  13. Your meals are so colourful, I'm really impressed. I find it difficult some days to eat the rainbow. It's lovely to see some ideas from other bloggers as how to do it! Thanks for the inspiration.

I swear, our breakfasts are twins nowadays! I keep waiting for the day when I wake up and don't crave cereal but I don't see it happening any time soon.
