what i ate wednesday: issue 65

Figure 1. Breakfast: You know it's true - All Bran mixed with puffed wheat, a banana, cocoa powder, and milk.

Figure 2. Morning snack: peanut butter toast. It happens every day. Maybe I should get a toaster?

Figure 3. Lunch: Ethnic Gourmet vegetable korma. Dug out of my freezer and surprisingly delicious.

Figure 4. Afternoon snack: a chocolate cottage cheese bowl topped with cinnamon chex. Yum.

Figure 5. Dinner: a random leftover concoction. Leftover thai slaw topped with 1/2 a leftover thai turkey burger, roasted butternut squash, and a piece of leftover whole wheat bread topped with smashed avocado and salt

Figure 6. Dessert: dolce de leche sugar free pudding.

And that concludes another What I Ate Wednesday (featuring what I ate Monday/Tuesday, January 21/22).

  2. Haha I love your method for making toast! A toaster is actually kind of a pointless appliance since it can only do one thing... your method makes way more sense. ;)

    1. except.....it takes like 8 hours to toast 1 slice of bread. besides that...and the fact that toasters are only $10 these days...

  3. Your dinner looks delicious! Sometimes random meals like that are my favorite- I don't have to "commit" to a particular flavour and instead get a bit of everything ;)

  5. Honestly, your cereal bowl makes me think of childhood breakfast with my mum. Mixing all kinds of granola we had and mushing it up - it's been too long for sure.

Oh, and can I come over for dinner (minus the meat)? Like, every day :)?

  6. I used to eat those ethnic gourmets all. the. time in college and my roommate would come home and spend hours try to figure out WTF our room smelled like. Seriously though, surprisingly good!

  11. Yes to a toaster or toaster oven, too bad we didn't know before Christmas! Your Birthday is coming up, can you wait that long?

I have to admit, the chocolate and cottage cheese do not sound very appealing.

    1. i know...i failed to put this on my list. M had the toaster and took it to Gville with him. i might end up splurging on one :) yeah actually i was skeptical about the cottage cheese thing too but it is surprisingly delicious (first time i added agave nectar to sweeten it up). tons of protein too! give it a try.

  18. HA @ the toast in the oven! For years I made my toast like that until I got a toaster for Christmas from my in laws. And they made fun of me the whole day for going so long without a toaster. :) But it works!

  20. That breakfast looks delicious, why haven't I thought of adding cacao powder to my cereal??? I also LOVE the butternut squash love (I'm a winter squash ADDICT as of this year) and I so do the ghetto-toast thing, too. I usually just heat a pan up and toast it that way :P

  21. Thai slaw sounds awesome. I can't believe you don't have a toaster.. I do have to admit however that I often just use the oven grill because I am too lady to pull my toaster out of the cupboard :)
